Resveratrol & Healthy Aging
Plus: boost your brain, for free
Today’s almonds have been activated by:
Answer to yesterday’s brainteaser:
We asked you:
❝The day before two days after the day before tomorrow is Saturday. What day is it today?❞
And what a varied set of responses we got!
The correct answer was: Friday
Method: 1) the “day before tomorrow” is today 2) “the day before two days after” can be simplified to “one day after”.
So if “one day after today is Saturday,” then today must be Friday.
Remember though: whatever answer you got, the most important thing is that your brain was stimulated! It’s about the process, not the result.

💊 MAIN FEATURE
Resveratrol & Healthy Aging
Resveratrol is the compound found in red grapes, and thus in red wine, that have resulted in red wine being sometimes touted as a heart-healthy drink.
However, at the levels contained in red wine, you’d need to drink 100–1000 glasses of wine per day (depending on the wine) to get the dose of resveratrol that were associated with heart health benefits in mouse studies.
(if you are not a mouse, you might need to drink even more than that)

Resveratrol supplementation
Happily, resveratrol supplements exist. But what does resveratrol do?
It lowers blood pressure:
It improves blood lipid levels:
It improves insulin sensitivity:
It has neuroprotective effects too:
Is it safe?
For most people, it is generally recognized as safe. However, if you are on blood-thinners or otherwise have a bleeding disorder, you might want to skip it:
You also might want to check with your pharmacist/doctor, if you’re on blood pressure meds, anxiety meds, or immunosuppressants, as it can increase the amount of these drugs that will then stay in your system:
And as ever, of course, if unsure just check with your pharmacist/doctor, to be on the safe side.
Where to get it?
We don’t sell it, but here’s an example product on Amazon for your convenience 😎
Enjoy!

📖 ONE-MINUTE BOOK REVIEW
Fitness Freedom for Seniors: 15-Minute Strength Training Workouts to Reclaim Your Balance, Energy, and Confidence – by Jackie Jacobs
Exercise books often assume that either we are training for the Olympics, and most likely also that we are 20 years old. This one doesn't.
Instead, we see a well-researched, well-organized, clearly-illustrated fitness plan with age in mind. Author Jackie Jacobs offers tips and advice for all levels, and a progressive week-by-week plan of 15-minute sessions. This way, we're neither overdoing it nor slacking off; it's a perfect balance.
The exercises are aimed at "all areas", that is to say, improving cardiovascular fitness, balance, flexibility, and strength. It also gives some supplementary advice with regard to diet and suchlike, but the workouts are the real meat of the book.
Bottom line: if you'd like a robust, science-based exercise regime that's tailored to seniors, this is the book for you.
