Happy Sunday 👋

❝There is no health without mental health; mental health is too important to be left to the professionals alone, and mental health is everyone’s business❞
~ Dr. Vikram Patel

In today’s email we cover what happens in the 15 years prior to diagnosis with multiple sclerosis, how to build muscle without weights, and “growing better, not older”.

Do you sometimes get dry eyes? Today’s sponsor are sharing (for free) 5 reasons that eye drops won’t work for dry eyes, and how actually fixing it from the inside is better—click here to learn how! ← the information is free; the supplement sadly isn’t, but, the more you know!

Today’s Main Feature

Advance Warnings Of Multiple Sclerosis (15-Year Timeline!)

We don’t know what causes it. We don’t know how it happens. We don’t know how it can be fixed.

But we do know what heralds its coming:

One-Minute Book Review

Growing Better Not Older: How to biologically optimize your body, improve your appearance, and crush your goals by targeting visceral fat – by Dr. Sean O’Mara

Of course we will, all being well, continue to progress through time and grow chronologically older, but biological age in all its facets can certainly be modified (in either direction!), and that’s what this book is about.

Dr. O’Mara sets out his 10 principles of health optimization, and then explains, chapter by chapter, how to go about each of these.

The book is strong on advice, and light to non-existent on justification. Now, this is not necessarily a big problem as his advice is sound and is consistent with good up-to-date science (indeed, we’ve written on all 10 topics at 10almonds, and have given similar recommendations in each case), but he tends not to take up the time to actually show where the advice came from. Which is odd really, as in a book rather than a newsletter, one can take as much time/space as one wants to do that. As such, no bibliography. There is a resource section, though it’s in large part an upsell effort for the author’s subscribable programs.

Bottom line: good advice, minimal background information or sourcing, opportunity to learn more—albeit for a price.
