Happy Monday 👋

Today’s topic is a unique one! We’re looking at the intersection between Pain Relief & Keeping Calm. We wanted to try something quite specific, to see if it resonated with you. Let us know your thoughts by replying to this email!

If you have ever cancelled plans because of a migraine, you know how much it takes from you. More than just the pain, it takes away time with loved ones, it takes away even a good night’s sleep, and it definitely takes away the simple joy of bright cheerful relaxing mornings.
Today’s sponsor Reveri is the product of 45 years of research, to give us relief from that, and allow us to reclaim our lives, in comfort and with a clear head.
In just 10 minutes, this Stanford-developed practice gives people a natural way to ease migraine pain (here’s how).

What The Science Says

For many people, migraine pain shapes how each day unfolds. Bright lights, certain foods, or even stress can trigger hours of discomfort. Medications help some, but not all, and many want a drug-free option they can trust.

But what can we trust?

If you’re a regular 10almonds reader, you’ll know that we like things to be backed up with plenty of evidence, and if they’re not, we won’t say it.

And in this case? There’s a lot of evidence. In fact, there’s so much evidence that this writer took a lot longer than she usually spends on a sponsor, reading it.

Stanford’s Dr. David Spiegel is considered the global authority on clinical hypnotherapy, having clocked up 45 years in the field, and authored more than 400 papers on the topic. ← you’ll need to click on “research”, the most relevant ones are near the top

Even we only had time to read so many of them, but here are some takeaways:

  • The methodology is rigorous (very important, and we were looking for this)

  • The sample sizes are fair-or-better on a per-study basis

  • The overall weight of evidence is large (that’s good)

  • The statistical significance is high (that’s good too)

So we can say with confidence: when it comes to migraines, hypnosis can be a powerful tool. In terms of the pain relief aspect alone, it works well for around 80% of people reducing pain by nearly half, and even for those not in the “high hypnotizability” category, it can still reduce pain considerablystill around 30% effectiveness even in the lower hypnotizability group.

Which, when you’re at the stage of “I would do anything for relief right now”, is huge. And, research also shows, the more you do it, the more your brain will get used to dialling down the pain ← so, regular practice adds to the effectiveness (the opposite is true of drugs, where often a person builds tolerance and drugs work less well the more you take them)

Best of all, it’s safe, simple to use, and trusted by thousands who need a practical way to stay in control of their health.

How it works: Reveri works by guiding the brain into a focused and deeply relaxed state, which calms the over-firing nervous system and reduces the brain’s sensitivity to pain signals.

Most people feel relief within minutes and, with ongoing use, find fewer flare-ups and fewer days being wiped out. In other words, the relief we need.
