Good afternoon 👋
Notwithstanding the festive song that may sometimes be heard in stores around this time of year, mistletoe and wine would be a terrible combination, as the former is poisonous and the latter is, well, technically also poisonous, but less dramatically so in small doses at least.
That said, American mistletoe (which disrupts cell membranes, killing the cells on a one-off basis) is much less poisonous than European mistletoe (same pathophysiological mechanism as ricin but less easily stopped), as the American version will usually only cause gastrointestinal upset, rather than what the European version does, which is permanent inhibition of ribosomal protein synthesis leading to a chain reaction of cell death on an ongoing basis, and ultimately, death of the organism (that’s you; you’re the organism, made of cells).
